About Us

Westholme Ceramics was first formulated in 2013 when the opportunity arose to buy a secondhand pottery wheel and small kiln, along with a few tools, glazes and a couple of containers full of bone dry clay.

This was duly confined to the shed with not much intention of using it straight away. Up until this point, the only time I’d made anything with clay was at secondary school around 1977-78. Thank you Miss Parsons!

Inspiration

When the first series of The Great Pottery Throwdown came on TV, I became more interested. Then, in 2016, as a 50th Birthday present, I was enrolled on a one day beginners pottery session at Rachel Dormer Ceramics in Cambridge.

Thanks to my daughter, the equipment was brought out of storage and the making began……… with mixed results.

Lockdown

Due to other commitments, the pottery was put away again until lockdown 2020 when the current studio area was created. I make wheel thrown pottery in my spare time to relax after work.

I produce all kinds of functional ceramics, from egg cups to large bowls or platters. Commissions for specific items can be undertaken. Just message me for more information via one of the platforms on the Contact Us page.
